1990 All-Area JuCo team OFFENSE DE.i'ENSE

Heading up the first Meridian Star All -Area Junior College Football team are Offensive Player of the Year Kenny Jordan of Jones Junior College and De– fensive Player of the Year Eric Washington of East Mississippi CommunityCollege. The team is comprised of play– ers from East Mississi ppi, Jones, and East Central Community College. Jordan, a sophomore running back, was a first-team all-state choice nnd played in the MJCA a 11-star game. As a sophomore, he rushed for 656 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. He also returned l8 ~it.:l-.un s fur 427 yards. Jordan led J un e~; in scoring with 72 (X)IIll~ As a II l'Shman, he rushed for 6 17 yards und scvrn of his nine touchdowns. Washington, a sophomore line– backer, was a co defensive MVP for the all -state team, was chosen to the All-Reg ion 23 team, and played in the all-star game. As a sophomore, he had 101 tackles, 6R of which were solo. As a fres h– man, he had 85 tackles. Selected as Coach of the Year was EMCC 's J.C. Arban, who led the Lions to a 6-4 record. As a sopho more, he completed 78-of 2 10 passes for 1,091 yards and rushed for 409 yards. He led the team in scoringwith 36 points. • Chris Isaac -The freshman quarterback from EMCC was an honorable mention aU-state pick. He completed 86-of-175 passes for 1,433 yards and a state-best 16 touchdowns. • AnthonyWalker-Thesopho– more fullback from ECCC was a first-team all-state choice and played in the all-star game. He rushed for 663 yards and three touchdowns this past season. • Sammie Holifield- The so– phomore running back fr om ECCC was a second-team all-state selection and played in the all-star game. As a freshman. he caught 29 passes for 530 yards and five touchdowns. • Mnrlo Fair- The sophomore w1de rccc1vcr from EMCC was a second-team all-state pick and playc..•d 1n the all-star game. As a sophomore, he caught 37 passes for 542 yards, returned 25 punts for 330 yard-;, returned 10 kickoffs for 21.5 yards, and led the Lions in scoring with 54 points.
