EC takes wild win at Delta December 10 Willie Jacobs' free throw with one second remaining gave East Central Community College a 111-110 vic– tory over Mississippi Delta in a thrilling matchup played December 10 on the Moorhead campus. Jacobs, a freshman point guard from Ocala, Florida, had stolen an in-bounds pass and was fouled following teammate Luther Riley's two-pointer which tied the contest with seven seconds left in regulation. Riley had also swiped an in-bounds toss and went the distance for an easy lay-up. East Central, which trailed by five points with 30 seconds remaining, began the late comeback when Terry Thames heaved a three-pointer with 16 seconds to go in the non-division battle. With the one-point decision, the Warriors, under second year coach Jay Bowen, improved to 9-3 overall. East Central remains 1-1 in South Division action. Sophomore Tyrone Stowers was leading scorer against the Trojans as he pumped in 30 points. Also scoring were Mark Stribling, 19; Eric Mays, 14; Kevin Kennedy, 13; Thames and Tony Bailey, 11 each; Michael James, 8; Riley, 2; Jacobs and Charlie Doonerson, 1 each. Delta led 43-41 at halftime. In women's play, the Lady War– riors were outscored by an 80-70 margin and saw their record drop to a 6-2 mark. However, Coach Sam– my Pace and his East Central women still sport a perfect 2-0 mark in league competition. Shontel Lowe was the Lady War– riors' top scorer with 26 points. Other pointmakers were Carolyn Boatman, 14; Paula Nash, 12; Shea Oakley, 8; Gloria Clay, 4; Beverly Ware, 3; Tonya Stowers, 2; and Apryl Hendon, 1. Delta led 42-36 at halftime.
