But if you saw the look on the face of coach Dale Peay after his Lady Lions of East Missisipi had just defeated the highly-regarded East Central Communii ty College Lady Warriors 72-59 T uesda y night in Keyes T. Currie Coli – seum, you could have made an ar– guement for small town basketball coaches. The Lady Lions of EMCC strode to a large second-half lead, then he ld o n fo r the 13- po int victory. "We just came out ready to play ball toni ght," a grinning Peay noted after the game. "After we lost to them earlier in the year. we could have been intimidated by them, but we re ally c ame out ready to play." Ea st Central grabbed its last lead at 5-2 with 16: 11 remaining in the first half before surrender– ing eight s traight po in ts to the Lady Lions, who never loo ked back. After a 10-0 run to move ahead 22-10 at the 7 :53 mark of the fi rst half, the Lady Lions and their fans could already beg in to smell an upset.
