DECATUR- After playing \\ nh a predominantly freshman team last season, East Central Community College men's ba– sketball coach Jay Bowen is look– ing forward to seeing how his Warriors will react with a little ex– perience under their belts. . "We have seven returnmg so– phomores and three of them were honorable mention all-state as freshmen," Bowen said. "We've got something we didn't have last year and that's people that know our system, know what I expect ?f them and know what the league ts . . like. They've got the expenence. All seven of them started at one time or another and played quite a bit. We're looking at them for leadership and experience and we didn't have that last year." ECCC was 8-16 a year ago and 4-8 in the MJCA South Division, including a 70-66 win over state champion Hinds. The returning sophomores are Eric Mays, a 5-foot-10 point guard from Gosnell, Ark .; Terry Thames, a 6-foot guard from Beu– lah Hubbard; Tyrone Bender, a 6-foot-3 guard from Louisville; Lonnie Anderson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Lake; Charlie Donner– son, a 6-foot-4 forward from Gos– nell, Ark.; Kev in Kennedy, a 6-foot-3 forwa rd from South Leake; Tyrone Stowers, a 6-foot-5 forward from Scott Central; and Michael James, a 6-foot-8 forward from Gary,Ind. Stowers averaged 16.8 points and 4. 1 rebounds as a freshman. Thames averaged 12.3 points and led the team in scoring in eight of the last 10 games. James averaged 8.9 points and 5.9 rebounds. Mays averaged 6.8 points and made 86.2 percent of his free throws
