McDonald shines for South all-stars From special reports East Central Community College's Faye McDonald was named the South Team's Most Valuable Player in Thursday night's 80-65 win over the North at the Mississippi Junior College All-Star Basketball Game in Goodman. East Central's Patrick Stribling was also a factor in the South men's 99-90 victory. McDonald led all scorers with 19 points as the South took its second straight triumph in the series. Pearl River's Antrice McGill added 13 points for the victors, who held a 43-35 halftime advantage. The North received eight points from East Mississippi's Jessica Whitsett. Lady Lion Tracey Burrage, a former West Lauderdale player, played for the North but did not score. In the men's battle. which enabled the South to even the series at SEE Stars

6-6, Stribling scored 11 points. Stribling put the South ahead to stay when he made a 3-pomter with 7: 15 to go in the first half. The South was led by its Most Valuable Player, Calvin Aultman of Gulf Coast, with 18. Jones County's Derrick and Copiah-Lincoln's Russell Johnson were next with 12 each. The North, which trailed 47-34 at halftime, lost despite 18 points from Carl Williams of Holmes and the coaching efforts of East Mississippi's John Stroud. East .Mississippi's Lonnie Nason added four ~ints to the North's effort.
