After evening their record at 1-1 last week, East Central's Warriors host the unbeaten Copiah-Lincoln Wolves Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in South Division community college football action. ECCC got its win on a Ronnie Williamson field goal on the final play of the game against Holmes. The Warriors offensive line. which struggled in a season– opening loss to Northeast, pro– vided enough blocking for ECCC to rush for 285 yar ds on 55 carries against Holmes. "They did a lot better," ECCC coach A.J Kilpatrick said. "That's usually more than we gain period." Comprising the offensive line are left tackle Kevin Lowery, left guards Cullen Scarbrough
Co-Lin's Wolves improved to 2-0 in a 39-34 shootout over Jones Saturday. Co-Lin beat Coahoma 16-6 in its season opener . Kilpatrick saw the Jones game. "They looked pretty good," he said of the Wolves. "Offensively. they're tough and I think their defense is tough." Key players for Co-Lin ou defense are nose guard Bo Davis (6-foot-1 , 275 pounds); linebacker Russell Callendar < 6-2. 225): defensive back Victor Green (6-0, 190); tackles Clarence Wheeler <6-3. 245) and Cedric Tobias (6-3. 265): and ends l\lichael Williams (6-3, 235) and Ken Verucchi (6;,3, 235). Green had nine intercep tions a year ago. Their offensive leaders are quarterback Marc Jacobs (6-2, 195); running back/quarterback Dexter Rouhlac (6-2, 210); and tight end Andre Newson (G-2, 260). Alvin Fortenberry (5·10. 180) and Dejuan Singleton (G-0. 190) are the wideouts. The Wolves have been known to go with four wide men, leaving only one man in the backfield. Co-Lin coach Ray Ishee isn't con– ceding to a total air attack. however. "We rushed for 210 and passed for 208 against Jones," he said. "We're using a lot of formations and it probably seems like we're passing more. "It's a big one for us. We've got to win this one in order to stay in the hunt and East Central has got a pretty good football team."
