Warriors stay home for opener By Marty Stamper Special to The Star DECATUR- East Central and Northeast are alike in many ways this football season. Both wear black and gold and both have been picked to finish next to last in their respective Mississippi Community College Association divisions in 1989. And both head coaches - ECCC's A.J. Kilpatrick and Nor– theast's Johnny Plummer - are putting a lot of significance in Thursday's 7 p.m. season opener for the two here. "It's very important for us to get the first start and get the freshmen lined up and get one under their belt," Kifpatrick said. "And a win is a big advan– tage as far as the season is concerned.'' Plummer, who formerly was the head coach at Delta State, agreed. "The first game is important,'' the Tigers coach said. "A win can do a lot of good things for teams not expected to do well. "We need to see where our weaknesses are and our strengths and if we can have a ~EE Warriors

The three returning backs we were coun– ting on all flunked out, so we'll start all freshmen in the backfield." Kiloatrick's Warriors enter the
