ECJC women stand 6-5 in division play

East Central women picked up two impor tant Sou t h Divison Games t his week to improve their record to 6·5 in division play. The firs t victory came a t Pearl River when the EC women won by a score of i 3-63. The number t wo scorer in the nation. J oy Eichelberger of Louisville, was held to 13 points, but sophomore forv.·ard Beverly Chambers scored 20 points followed by ethia Townsend of Lake with 12 and Karen Miller of Louisville with 12. The big victory of the week was Tuesday night when East Central defeated the number two team from Sourh Utica by one point in overtime. East Central lead 34·32 at the half. At the end of regulation time t he score was tied 66-66. The East Central women won in overtine 72-7 1. Aga in Joy Eichelberger was held below her average of 26.9. She finish– ed t he game with 17 points.

Beverly Chambers of Morton picked up 20 points followed by Sethia Townsend of Lake with 14 and Kar en Miller of Louisville with 12. Coach Wood states, "Our girls are playing good ball. We only ha\·e two sophomores on our team and the freshmen are making a contribution. Our scoring is more balanced and we are placing four players in double figures each game. I just can' t say enough about the progress this team has made since the Christmas break. We are small compared to most college teams, but we are out rebounding t hem and our overall shooting has im– proved. A good team plays "ith lots of emotion and we are doing tha t now.''
