ECJC GOSPEL CHOIR CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH
The East Central Junior Lollege gospel choir payed tribute to National Biack History Month with a con– cert presented on February 24. The Reverend Larry Weems of Jackson was the guest speaker at the event, and several musical selections were presented by the choir and three guest choirs. The guest choirs were the Jerusalem Baptist Church choir of Lawrence; the Morning Star Baptist Church Choir of Philadelphia; and the Murray Chapel choir of Decatur. Members of the ECJC gospel choir are Pamela Hathorne,., Juanita Hathorne, Maretta Hud– son, Amanda Holmes, Audrey Young, Yolando Young, Carla Burnside, Vickye Davis, Lisa Lewis,
Elizabeth Tucker, J.C. Ford, and Charles Sum– mers, all of Philadelphia; Delores Mullins, Marcus Hannah, and Billy Shields, all of Louisville; Mat– tie Harrington and Kerry Nichols, both of Union; Debria Thompson and Marion Nichols, both of Newton, Diane Johnson, Cynthia Franklin, and Lucille Lampkin, all of Decatur; Brenda Johnson, Carthage; and Chiquita Jones, Meridian. The gospel choir officers for 1986-87 are Kerry Nichols, president; Brenda Johnson, vice-president; Lisa Lewis, secretary; Yolanda Young, director; An– thony Roberts and Sharon Goodman, pianists; and Mrs. Lawrence Tingle, choir sponsor. ·
