Mattie Burnside, of Noxapater, ia a member of the Northeast Louisiana University varsity women'• basketball team. The team opened ita season Nov. so with a 88-79 loss at ImJ, ranked 13th in the nation, and bu since won three straJgbt over Mercer, Milaissippl College, and Stephen F. Austin. 1be Lady Indiana will play six other teams either in the top twenty last year or pre-seuoa ranked this year. Last year, the Lady Indians won the Southland five other collegiate teams and defeated the · University of Montana in an openln& round NCAA game. Burnside, a jµnior .forward, transferred 'to Northeast from East Central Missl11ippi Junior College, where she was MVP in Mluillippi's South Division, played in the MiSBissippi Junior College all-star pme, and - was a Kodak selection to the WBCA team.
