Dr. Wright leaves ECJCafter 19 years ~ Dr. Charles V. Wright will be leaving East Central Junior College in June after 19 years as President. In a recent inter– view in his office, he reflected back over the past two decades of growth, develop– ment, and change at the College. He stated, "It has been my privilege to lead the institution through a period of significant growth in physical facilities, program development, student enroll– ment, and in both faculty number and qualifications. of 20,000 volumes in the library; reaf– firmation of regional accreditation; ad– dition of a college nurse and clinic; a commuter bus from Leake County; a garbage pick~up system for the campus; an increase in full-time student enroll– ment from 682 to. 871; an increase in professional staff from 37 to 61. In ad– dition, a number of policies from ex- panded sick leave benefits for employees to work schedule changes and profes– sional improvement requirements have been put into effect. Dr. and Mrs. Wright have purchased a home in the Crossgates Community of Brandon and are looking forward to their retirement there beginning in a few weeks.

Dr. Wright accomplished many objec– tives while serving the institution. These include: the addition of ten educational programs on campus and six at the Philadelphia - Neshoba County Vo-Tech Center; the c()nstruction or major renovation of fifteen buildings; new athletic facilities for football, bask~tball, .Q.a~e_ba!l., t~nnis an_9 intrClJl!ura~; the construction of two new streets, the resurfacing of all others and the addi– tion of 10, parking areas and lighted walkways; expansion from fifteen telephones to a campus-wide system of 75; a closed circuit television system to all instructional buildings; administra– tion and instructional computing system to include 48 work stations; an increase
