The Warriors of East Central Junior College put the finishing touch on a perfect Homecoming by knocking off the Jones County Junior College Bobcats 14-10 on the strength of an outstanding perform- ance by the defensive team. The Warriors scored all of their points in the first quarter and then turned back the offensive thrusts of the Bobcats time and time again to claim their victory. JCJC got on the scoreboard early following an on-side kick to start the ballgame. The Bobcats recover- ed the kick at the East Central 42 yard line. When the Bobcat drive stalled, Fred Cooley kicked a 39 yard field goal to put Jones ahead 3-0 with 11:13 left in the first quarter. The Bobcats' only touch- down came in the third quarter when Sherman Saulsberry drove in from the 1 yard line, capping a 69 yard drive. Cooley added the extra point to pull the score to 14-10 but that was as close as the Bobcats came. The Warriors' first score came with 6:06 remaining in the first quarter when quarterback Orlando Vaughn threw a 29 yard touchdown strike to Isaac Harris. Verandel Irons added the PAT to put the Warriors ahead 7-3. 'After kicking off to Jones, the Warrior defense stopped the Bobcats and forced a punt.
