East Central marched 73yards on an impressive 11-play drive to begin the second half. A Johnson 23-yard run and a Salter to S e d r i c k J o r d a n 1 4 - y a r d touchdown pass werethe two big plays. The point-after was no good. Moments later ECJC had stuck the ball in the endzone a s Salter teamed up with Issac Har- ris on a 14-yardpass play. On the score Salter threaded the needle a s he put the ball between a pair of defenders. The try for two was no good but ECJC had taken a 12-10 lead with 1:15 left in the third. The Warrior defense came ur, with a big play late in the c a u s i n g a f umb l e a t t h e Southwest 22. This time ECJC had to settle for a %yard field goal by Verandel Irons. Southwest had its chances late in the game a s ECJC played give-away, but the defense refus- ed to yield the big play and the Warriors held on for the win. Kilpatrick wasn't beaming afterwards, bilt he was glad to get the win. "Our defense played great tonight," Kilpatrick said. SUMMIT - Ea s t Central J u n i o r C o l l e g e s c o r e d 15 - un a n swe r e d s econd - ha l f points to take a 15-10 win here over Southwest Junior College Saturday night. The win was the third in a row for Coach A.J.Kilpatrick's War- riors who a r e now 4-5 on the season. Things started poorly for ECJC a s punter Mike Killens had his first punt blocked by a charging Brook Lyons. Willie Leggett scooped up the pigskin a t the five and waltzed into the endzone giv- ing the Bears an early 6-0 lead. Hugh Watkins connected on the extra-point and with 13:55 left in the first quarter Southwest led n n I-u. East Central's defense kept the Warriors in the game with some fine defensive work a s the of- fense had trouble getting any measurable yardage. On no less than four occasions did Southwest drive the ball into ECJC territory in the first half only to come up with a field goal. The Bears were able to get a 20-yard field goal by Watkins with 6: 39 left in the half to put the host UP 10-0. Kilpatrick's Warriors came out with fire in their eyes in the s e c o n d h a l f a n d t o t a l l y domfnated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the field.
