After graduating from Sebastopol High School in 1978, Lathem attended East Central Junior College where he received a n Associate of Arts degree in mathematics education. At ECJC, 1,athem was elected to the Hall of Fame. In 1982, Lathem graduated from I\iississippi State University with a a a c h e l o r of Science d e g r e e in mathematics education. Before returning to Scott County, 1,athem taught one year a t Murphy High School in Mobile, AL. He currently teaches geometry, \.4lgebra 11, a n d a d v a n c e d mathematics a t illorton High School. As a teacher, Lathem has been honored by being selected a s STAR Teacher for three years.
