Winter has announced the appointment . of Colonel Denver Brack– een of Union as the Assistant Adjutant Gen– eral of the Mississippi Army National Guard. career in 1949, enlisting in the 932nd Field Artillery Battalion. He / entered active duty with his unit on January 16, · 1951, durlng the Korean Conflict. After his release from active duty Jn 1952, Brackeen returned to the Missis– sippi National Guard. and resumed a career which has included 19 years in. various com– mand assignments. He has a total of 30 years military service. Brackeen, who now serves as commander of ' the Grenada-based 631st Field Artilery Brigade, will assume hi~ new position on August 16, when Brigadier General Gray Harrison becomes the new Adjutant General. Brackeen, a native of Hickory in Newton County, is a graduate of .. Hickory High School, East Central Junior Col– lege and the University of . Mississippi.
