When asked whether he would like to beat the opposition bad or win an exciting close game, he responded with mixed emotions. "Sure, I like to beat somebody and beat them bad," said Killens. "I think a lot of $lose games are good too. Very seldom in junior college do you beat somebody bad. They ain't no weak sisters. You got to practice hard for everybody you play. " Killens is a firm believer in Junior College football, and knows for a fact that it is tough. "I say for sure that it is rougher than high school," said Killens with a slight smile on his face. He thought for a moment, stroked his chin and said, "If senior college is rougher its not much rougher. It's blood and guts (junior college football), you ain't got nothing to lose. "A lot of people don't understand how much better junior college is than in high school," said Killens in his southern drawl. "You just cm't do the things in high school that you can in junior college." Just any football player doesn't get Killens attention. Killens doesn't remember many names of the defensive players he has faced but he does recall some numbers. "I remember number 82 from Southwest real well," said the quarterback. He doesn't want to go to a school unless he knows he will play there. He would prefer a school with a throwing offense. "I can play for anybody that throws the ball, said the physical education major. When asked what he would do if a big school offered him a scholarship, but said he would have to be r&hirted a year, Killens said "I won't go." Killens became a quarterback by accident. A week before his sophomore season in high school, he was a starting defensive end. The regular quarterback moved, causing Killens to be shifted to the signal calling spot. When jokingly suggested that a dip guard should be invented so he could play with a dip, Killens responded "I don't know. I might swallow it (the dip), then I'd be coughing the whole game." If Killens couldn't play quarterback he would like to be a linebacker. ''I would just like to play it," the sophomore responded. "I think if I was big enough I would be good at it." When asked what he would do to the quarterback (If he was on defense) Killens said, "I'd hit him if he got in my way, I wouldn't go out of my way to bust him in the nose or nothing " Killens gets along with his back up real well.
