ECJC Defeats Delta

begins Sept. 4 The East Central Junior College Warrior football team will begin workouts August 13th to prepare for the 82-83 football season. Players will report between 9 and 10 a.m. with the first practice beginning at 3 p.m. according to head football coach, A.J. Kilpatrick. "I am 'anticipating 65-70 players and am looking forward to a good year," Kilpatrick sta- ted. East Central Junior College defeated Delta Junior College 22-20 at home on the Warrior field October 23. East Central's first score came in the first quarter with a connection between QB Jeff Breland and TE David Gallaspy. The first quarter score was 7-0. East Central and Delta both scored in the second quarter which ended with a score of 13-6 in East Central's favor. ECJC scored with a one-yard run by QB Jeff Breland. The fourth quarter really decided the game. ECJC scored on a 28-yard QB Stacy Powell pass to WR Percy Johnson for a touchdown and Luke Parks made the PAT for a 20-6 score in favor of ECJC. On the first play after the kickoff, Delta quarterback Lamar Kirkland fumb- led the snap. He recovered in the end zone, but ECJC's Thomas Russell fell on Kirkland for a safetv and a 22-6 ECJC lead. Delta then came back to score two touchdowns and made a two-point conversion to bring the score to its final tally of 22-20. East Central had a total of 128 yards passing and 105 yards on the ground.
