Her team is off to a 3-0 start this season and the veteran coach is wearing a big smile. "I'm real optimistic about this season," Wood said. "We can have a fine team if we work hard and show some patience. "We're well-balanced and we have a lot more depth this year. We have a lot of talented players, but most of them are inexpeirenced." You won't find Robinson standing on a limb, making a lot of promises. "I've never been optimistic at the start of the season," he said. "I don't like to make predictions, but we can be a good team if the players work hard and show a lot of desire." Last season, the Warriors got off to a blistering 12-3 start the first half of t he season. However, they failed to win a game the second half, dropping 10straight. Robinson lost four players due to eligibility problems and another player left the team for disciplinary reasons. This left only nine players on the Warriors' roster the second half of the season. "We have a lot of depth this year,'Robinson said. "We've been playing 9 or 10 players every ball game. " Returning starters for ECJC are 6-6 center Roy Myers and guard George Gray, a former Lake High School standout. Gray averaged 17 points per game last season, while Myers chipped in 8.6 points per

Freshmen hopefuls include Kim Murphy, Kim Lee Sandra Edwards and Elaine Fulton, all of Neshoba Central; Shelia Welch and Sonjia Herrington, Decatur and Cassandra Wilson and Jackie Johnson, Morton.
