in Region 7 tourney The Warriorettes took fourth place in the Region 7 Tournament in Harriman, Tennessee. East Central nipped Jackson (Tenn.)State 61-59 in a quarterfinal game. Charlene Jones scored 24 points and swept 20 rebounds. Esther Thomas scored 13 and Joyce Watkins added 10. The Warriorettes lost to the eventual tourney champion, Coahomn, 80-69 in semifinal action. Bobbie Collier led the offense with 23 points. Jones added 21 points and had 13 rebounds. Thomas hit for 13 points. In a consolation game, EC fell to Shelby State 104-84. Shelby, the number one team from Tennessee, was led by Mary Boatwrights' 48 points. Thomas led EC with 25. Jones scored 22 and Collier added 15. East Central, which finished with an overall record of 20-9, had several girls selected to all star and all tournament teams. Charlene Jones was selected to the All Region 7 regular season team. Only 5 girls from Mississippi were given this honor. Jones and Esther Thomas were picked to the All Tournament team. Jones alsojoined Carla Halley on the South A! Star Team. This outfit wil face the North All Stars on March 19 at Holmes. Meanwhile, Warrior standout James Duce endea the season with 602 points, 506 rebounds and 110 assists.
