The keynote speaker for the Southern Association of Jun– ior College's segment was Andrew Young, Mayor of Atlanta and past United Nation's Ambassador. Since the Southern Asso– ciation meeting, East Central , has received notification of acceptance of its first year follow-up report for self study. There will be a second and a fifth year completing the reaffirmation of accredi– tation cycle. East Central was first accredited in 1939. New formats have been proposed that will result in a different type of accredita- . tion - and mmc frequent re– views that the present ten year cycle.
Dr. Charles V. Wright, President of East Central Junior College, Dr. Brad Tucker, Academic Dean, and Frank Rives, Dean of Admis– sions, attended the 1982 annual meeting of the Sou– thern Association of Colleges and Schools held in Atlanta, Ga. December 12-14. The Southern Association is com– posed of some 11,000 differ– ent colleges both public and private, secondary schools, elementary schools, and specialized schools in eleven southern states from Virginia to Texas. The three · day meeting consisted of general session meetings and segment meet– ings oriented -toward particu– lar educational groups.
