interfering with instruction. Academic programing courses will be added so that pre-engineer– ing, pre-med, and transfer business students will be able to take computer science courses. In the past, Data Processing has been open only to those enrolled in college technical programs. The Technical Data Processing Program will also be upgraded to reflect new developments in computers. During the 1981-82 Academic year, the College plans to secure the new equipment, institute the new records procedures, and start new instructional programs. The Vocational Division of the State Department of Education will assist in the purchase of the hardware and in program development for Vocational Programs.

East Central Junior College has been awarded a grant for S88, 764 to "Improve Management and Instruction Through Automation''. Under Title Ill of the Higher Education Act of 1965, the College will update computing capabilities and develop a plan which will result in the automation of four areas. With outside assistance the college will improve business procedures, student financial aid records, registration records, and will strengthen the instructional pro– gram. East Central will secure expertise to assist in putting student records and financial records "on line" on a larger computer.
