ECJC Concert Choir to perform spring concert

The East Central Junior College Concert Choir will present its annual Spring Concert in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Decatur campus at 7:30 p.m., Thurs– day, April 21st. The program features a variety of sacred and secular choral works, some of which the Choir performed at the annual Mississippi Associa– tion of Junior Colleges Choral Festival, held this year at Jones Junior College, Ellis– ville. Some of the sacred selections, taken from the musical "Backpacker's Suite", will be performed with orchestral tape accom– paniment. Featured in the secular portion of the program will be four of the seven "Frostiana" country songs by the immi– nent American composer Randall Thompson. "Fros– tiana" in its entirety, was performed by the 700+– voice mass chorus of the

MAJC Choral Festival with Dr. Robert Rich of Stetson University, Deland, Florida, serving as guest conductor. The membership of East Central's Concert Choir in– cludes students from all counties in the school's dis– trict and a few who come from other parts of the state. Students from Newton County are: Ned Addy, Pam Chaney, Senita Dearing, Leo– nard Fick, Gina Gibbs, Kathy Glenn, Wanda Hayles, Janean Huey, Lucy Hurst, Tamara Lewis, Teresa Lofton, Delpha Nickey, Dwight Per– kins, Kathy Stamper, Emily Thorne and Jo Ann Wright. The Choir, under the direc• tion of Bob Heritage, would like to extend a cordial invitation to the public to attend the concert and evi– dence their work as well as share an evening of musical enjoyment with them.
