Football fans will see a woole new image fn.:'.'the East Central Junior College Marching Ban!i . ~i,s year, as the fifty-.member group makes i~ appearance at the school's opening home:mm: Saturday night, September 13, against arcta::tvaJ East Mississippi Junior College. The W anior Band plans to incorporate a new concept in half-time shows by presenting along with the band feature numbers by the singers from the East Central Sound Company. During their half-time shows, the band will march ·'corps style'. They plan a variety of show presentations featuring popular music, Latin music, patriotic music, and country and western music. Members of the fifty-member band include 32 wind players, an eight-member drum corps, an I eight-member flag corps, and two field commanders . Field commanders selected in competition during the I first week of school are Sophomore Michelle Thornton and Freshman Mary Lynn Nance,'4°Wth former band students at Neshoba Central -High School. ~~- ' · Besides performing at all home games, the band will travel to the Delta and Gulf Coast games. They will also present several concerts during the year and participate in local parades. Future plans for the band will include spon.sorshjp of a brass percussion choir and a woodwind choir, which will perform locally, especially with local church choir groups . The band is Wlder the direction of Paul Giger.
