Three Scott Women Get EC Scholarships
Three students, representing high schools in Scott County, will attend East Central Junior College at Decatur this fall on Academic Achievement Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to students wishing to attend ECJC who have maintained the highest academic average for his or her ..;chool. Scholarship winners from Scott County are Charlotte Ann Madden of Sebastopol At– tendance Center, Becky Joann Burkes of Scott Central High School, and Debra Ann Wilkerson of Lake High School. Charlotte Ann is the daughter of Dock Madden of Walnut Grove. Listed in "Who's Who in America", she received awards in the following subjects: Modern Math I, English I, Mississippi History, Speech, Typing, Geometry, Valedictorian and Citizenship awards. Miss Madden served as president of NHS, secretary of the Beta Club, the FHA, and the senior class. She was a member of the Drama Club, the school chorus and paper staff, and was editor of the yearbook. She plans to major in mathematics.
BECKY BURKES
Becky is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gleen Burkes of Forest. At East Central, she plans to"major in Liberal Arts. She has maintained an "A" average through high school, received the Betty Crocker Award, and was an "Out– standing Teenager of America". She served as secretary of the Beta Club and FHA, and held membership in the Chorus and Library Club. Debra Ann is the daughter of Major Wilkerson of Lake. FHA Clubs, Editor and Assistant Editor of the school pape~ vice president of the senicit class, and was a ~sketball player. Honors and awards she received were Salutatorian of her class, the Beta Club Scholarship, Home Economics Award, Star Student, and the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award.
