East Central Band Clinic

January 14-15 An instrumental reading clinic will be held on the East~ Central Junior College campus at Decatur on Friday and Saturday, January 14 and 15 in the Fine Arts Center. The purpose of this clinic is to give individual instruction to those students who do not normally attend band clinics. It is also designed to allow the students to read a large repertoire of music. Approximately two hun– dred students from high schools in the five-county district served by East - Central are expected. Counties participating are Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Winston. Students attending the clinic will make up two bands. These bands will be under the direction of Dr. Robert B. Cochran, ad– ministrative assistant in the Meridian Public School System (formerly of Louisville) , and Joe utsey of Meridian, former band director at Meridian High School. Also included on the program will be one hour of instruction on individual instruments. Participants in these individual clinics will be band instructprs from the participating high schools, W. Thomas West, head of the music department at Mississippi State University, Dr. Warren Lutz and Thomas Wasson, also of the MS\J Music faculty. James T. Dykes, band director at East Central Junior College, will be in charge of the clinic.
