PRESS WOMEN AWARD WINNER--Mrs, Jane Tannehill, Women's Editor of THE UNION APPEAL, was presented six awards at the annual Mississippi Press Women's Award Banquet on Friday, March 23, Mrs. Tannehill won first place awards in the following three categories: News Writing, Feature Writing, and for her Woman's News Page, She received second place recognition for Page Make-Up and Display Advertising, and a third place award for Fashion Photography. Also serving as Public Relations Director at East Central Junior College at Decatur, Mrs, Tannehill was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi at their March workshop in ;son=:~·-~--
Area students receive PTK scholarships Students from Collinsville, Conehatta, Decatur, Lake, Phila– delphia and Union have been awarded Phi Theta Kappa schol– arships to attend the University of Southern Mississippi, effective fall quarter, announced ·Russell Ray, USM PTK faculty adviser. All students at East Central Junior College, scholarship win– ners are Garry F. Keller, Route l, Collinsville; Barbara Hln'e, Roµte 1, Conehatta; Ruby Denise Davis, Route 1, Decatur; Diane Freeman of Lake; Kinda Knotts Covington, Route 4, Philadel– phia; Sheila Jane Williams, Route 3, Union; and Sherry Denise Loper, Route 4, Union. The scholarships for outstand– ing junior college Phi Theta Kappa members, include S50 increments for four quarters.
