Steve Russell took the handoff and raced through the Warrior secondary for a 50-yard touchdown run with 9:32 left in the first period. Baughman kicked the PAT. East Central took the ensuing kickoff and drove 81 yards in 14 plays for the tying TD. Brazell got the score on a three-yard run and kicked the extra point. Alan Baker gained 67 of the 81 yards for ECJC. The Warriors took the lead midway through the second quarter after driving 80 yards in 10 plays. Gerald Goodman fired a 42-yard scoring pass to William Kandle for the TD. The kick failed and ECJC held a one-point lead. The Indians took the lead with 30 seconds left in the half when Goodman hit Willie McKinney with a 33-yard TD pass after IJC had recovered a Karrior fw-rlble. The try for a two-point conversion was stopped short. But ECJC wouldn't let the Indians keep the lead for the halftime break. The Warriors got the ball after the kickoff at their own 27 and Brazell dropped back and dropped the bail into the arms of speedster Raymond Scott and the ECJC split end outran everybody for a 73-yard touchdown to give the Warriors the lead back. A fumbled snap botched the PAT and ECJC held a 20-19 halftim lead. DECATUR - If you don't believe the old cliche that "football is a game of inches," just ask anyone who witnessed the East Central Junior College and Itawamba Junior College battle here Saturday night if it isn't true. With three seconds left in the game Itawamba's Tommy Baughman lined up to try a 44-yard field goal. The Indian booted the ball with all his strength and the ball sailed toward the goalposts. The ball hit the crossbar, bounded into the air and fell back short into t heendzoneand i t l e f t t he two undefeated teams still unbeaten with a 26-26 deadlock.
