Cheryl played "Vera Charles" in the musical production of "Mame." Sherry Winstead, daughter of Charles Winstead and Mrs. Peggy Winstead of Union, is majoring at accounting at ECJC and is a sophomore. During her freshman year she was a member of t he ECJC Players, ECJC Warrior Band, Choir and served as reporter for Phi Theta Kappa, honor society. Sherry is a graduate of Union High School. The 1979-80 East Central Junior College Collegians were recently selected. According to Bob Heritage, Collegian director, the applicants must go through a five hour audition. Twenty--three students audi- tioned- for places in the Collegians and only 14 were chosen. The Collegians will be busy performing throughout the year at approximat- ely forty places. Students elected from Newton County are: Cheryl Gibbon of Hickory, Sherry Winstead of Union, Evelyn Pierce of Newton, Jamie Satcher of Union, Sid Thompson of Union and Ken Hackman of Decatur. Evelyn portrayed Mame in the musical "Mame" and was selected a s Most Beautiful i Miss ECJC Scholarship Pageant her freshman year. Jamie Satcher, son of Mrs. Dalli Chamblee of Union, is also sophmore at EC. He is majoring psychology and counseling and hi been a member of the ECJC Playe and the TOM TOM Staff. He serving a s drum major in the Warrit Band this year. He has been production at ECJC includir "Mame" and in an one act pl: during the Dinner Theater. Sid Thompson is the son of Mr Hazel Mott of Union and the late 4 Sidney Thompson. He is a freshman . majoring in drafting and design an a graduate of Union High Shcool. While attending Union High School I Sid was received recognition by , receiving the Student Counc Award, the Chamber of Commerc Citizenship Award and the I Dar You Award. He was Student Boc president and a member of t t Drama Club, Band, Beta CluL, Student Council and Co-Hi-Y Club. Ken Hackman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hackman of Decatur, is a sophmore at EC majoring in pre-forestry. During his freshman year he was a member of the ECJC Players, Band, Choir, Collegians, TOM TOM Staff and participated in intramural sports. He has participat- ed in productions such a s "SoutL Pacific", "Mame" and "Tosco. Ken placed second in the state during the Spades Tournament last year at ECJC. Other Collegians include: Tamara Howell of Louisville; Melissa Thompson of Morton; Cindy Kennedy of Louisville; Sherri Miley of Morton; Tammy Taylor of Morton; Todd Rogers of Harperville; Gary Rogers of Louisville; and Geedie Simmons of Louisville.
