Each member of the academic faculty holds a master degree, and s eve r a l depa r tmen t s include instructors who hold the doctorate. In the beginning, Liberal Arts was the only curriculum offered. Today the college offers twenty-seven programs of study, including academic, vocational, one-year intensified business and several techrucal programs. . Newton, Neshoba and Scott counties originally supported the college. Later Leake and Winston counties joined the original three so that today the college is supported by these five counties, which make up the East Central Junior College District. East Central has always s t r i v e n t o g r a d u a t e a well-rounded individual. To this end, the college not only offers an excellent academic program but also encourages the students to participate in intramual and extramural activities, the officials said. Yearly, allcampus activities include a beauty pageant, a lively musical in the spring, s e v e r a l d a n c e s , a n d a comprehensive i n t r amu r a l program. The college has designed its curricula to meet the needs of those who plan to seek employment at the completion of a vocational or technical program, and to prepare those who are planning to further their education a$ a senior institution.
