two Years to be exact, East Central Junior College will celebrate 50 years of service to the people of its five supporting counties and the State of lississippi. Ea s t Central ? p r o a c h e s i t s f i f t i e t h miversary with a renewed determination to offer quality education at a reasonable cost to the people it serves, officials said. The campus of East Central has served as the site of a school since 1912 when a grammar school was built on the property. In 1914, to meet the demand for more advanced education, an agricultural high school was constructed; and in :I988 these buildings were used tcr house the first college classes. The high school remained a part of the junior college until the two became separate institutions in 1958. Within the next month, a part of the academic division at East Central will occupy a new classroom building. This building will house t he mathematics, English, history, a n d h o m e e c o n o m i c s jartments. Some interesting features of the new building include : accommodations for the handicapped, a teaching auditorium which is equipped for the most advanced visual and audio instruction, and for .home economics a kitchen and 'cawing laboratory featuring the ost advanced cooking and sewing equipment. Also located in the building are a public relations office and otography darkroom and a best preparation and duplicating room. Wuch-needed faculty offices and a faculty lounge are lfiA-4-A
