Applications for admission to the new School of Cosme- tology at East Central Junior College, Decatur, are now being accepted through Friday, August 24. A limited number of twenty students will be accepted for the Cosmetology School, according to Mr. O.L. New- ell, Vocational EducationCo- ordinator. All students will be required to work a total of 1500 hours, as established by the State Board of Cos- metology, during the 10 112 month program. Certificates will be issued upon completion of the pro- gram, enabling school grad- uates to take the State Board examination and re- ceive their cosmetology li- cense. Requirements for entry into the school are: (1) 10th grade education or equiva- lent, (2) must be 18 years of age, (3) must have a health certificate filled out by doctor. Applications must be made at the junior college or by calling Mr. O.L. Newel1 at 635-3237. Mrs. Shirley Williams of kferidian will be the new Cosmetology instructor. A graduate of Townsend Beauty School and the University of Hair Fashions, both of Meridian, Mrs. Williams has had nine years in the hair dressing profession at the Four Hundred Beauty Club d Meridian. "We are very pleased that we were able to get a person d Mrs. Williams' qualifica- ions and character," stated Newell. "We are looking forward to working with her

and operating a first-class beauty school." The new school will fea- ture classes in permanent waving, hair shaping, color- ing, and styling, etc. The finest in new equip- ment will be offered to students as they learn the latest techniques. Among those offered will be the automatic shampooer, two jet dryers, hair coloring machines, wig dryers and two electric manicure machines. Features of this newequip- ment are: AQUATURA AUTOMATIC SHAMPOOER--enables the patron to enjoy astimulating and thorough shampoo-rinse- scalp massage without pull- ing out, breaking off, or damaging hair in any way; JET HAIR DRYERS- -cuts drying time from a full hour to just 5 to 8 minutes. Al- though the air used is slightly warmer than a regular dryer, the patron feels no heat at all. A lady can have a shampoo, set, be dried and combed out ( in and out of the salon) in just 30-40 minutes; WIG DRYERS--dry three wigs at a time on each machine; ELECTRIC MANICURE MACHINES- -have electric emory boards, cutical push- ers, etc. for fast, efficient service; HAIR COLORING MA- CHINES--enables the color to take within ten minutes. Interested persons are invited to stop by the junior college and visit the new Cosmetology School at their convenience.
