SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 589

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE EAST CENTRAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM.

WHEREAS, the East Central Community College men's basketball team, the "Warriors", had an exceptional season, finishing with a 24-8 record; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors won their first state title in 40 years and became State Champions by defeating Northeast and Gulf Coast Community Colleges in championship play; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors achieved runner-up status in the South Division Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Warriors, led by Coach Marty Cooper and Assistant Jennifer Cooper, committed themselves to team play, thereby paving the way for their success; and

WHEREAS, the diligent effort of all these fine young m n enabled them to fully tap their athletic abilities and excel at all levels df competition; and

WHEREAS, outstanding individual contributions were recognized by the selection of player Marcus Mann to the first team, All-State, and the All-State honorable mention of player Anthony Coleman; and WHEREAS, this Legislature desires to recognize and commend outstanding achievement of these fine young athle~ es: 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and commend these young men for their athletic prowess and success and congratulate the Warriors for their accomplishments and honors on the basketball courts.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be provided to the East Central Community College "Warriors" basketball team.
