- Mr. Parish ha s been inter- ested in art since childhood. He was a charter member of the Forest Art Association in 1963 and participated in the student art workshQp that same year: and won awards in the Pennies for Art Contest sponsored by the Federated Women's Clubs of Mississippi. After completing his first year at the Ole Miss Art Department, he exhibited paintings, drawings and sculp– ture at the Bank of Forest Art Gallery in the fall of 1967 and maintained a summer studio in Forest primarily for assem– blage of sculpture. He has ex– hibited in the Mississippi Arts Festival Collegiate Show and in 1968 and 1970 received the Best in the Shqw Awai:cts in.the sculp- ture division. · In 1969-1970 he served as president of the Student Art Association and was chairman of the Ole Miss Christmas Ba– zaar held annualzy in December and the Spring Sidewalk Sale this April. In May he exhibited at the New Stage Theatre Gal– lery. Mr. Parish is married to the former Deborah Brown, daugh– ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown of Forest. He will teach in the art department at East Central Junior College in Sep– tember, and is currentzy as– sisting Mrs. Leland(Katherine) Speed of Jackson in sculpture for the Kansas Cicy Chief's new domed stadium.
PARISH ON £CJC STAFF AS COACH ART INSTRUCTOR
Ray Parish has joined the Ea s t Central Junior College faculty as art instructor and assistant coach. Parish gradmted from For– est High School in 1965. He re– ceived his B. F. A. in sculp– ture from the University of Mis– sissippi. While attending Ole Miss, he served as vice president and president of the Student Art Association. He receiveda Best in the Show Award at the Collegiate Art Festival, 1970. Parish has conducted three one-man shows and has ex– hibited throughout the Missis– sippi Delta. --0--

RAY PARISH Parish Art On Exhibit At Library
On exhibit at the Forest Pub– lic Library during the summer is a one-man show of work by Ray Parish, of Forest it was annolUlced by Mrs. o. B. Trip– lett, III, exhibition chairman of the Forest Art Association. Parish is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Parish of Forest. He is a graduate of Forest High School and will receive a Bach~ elor of Fine Arts degree from the Universicy of Mississippi in August with a major thesis written on Experimental Alum– inum Casting. The library ex– hibit includes ceramics, pottery, sculpture and oil paintings, which is open to the public on Monday, Tuesday and F r id a y afternoons, Saturday morning and all day Wednes– clav.
