A native of Newton County, Humphreys joined Mississippi Power in 1965 as a customer serviceman in Newton. He was appointed to his present position in 1970 and, at that time, was the youngest local mananger in the company. Humphreys is active in local civic work. He has served as vice president and treasurer of the Union Chamber of Commerce, has served as a Scoutmaster, was Union's Outstanding Young Man for 1973, served as president of the Union Lions Oub for the past two years, and was selected 1979 Boss . of the Year by the Union B cl PW Qub, a ladies' pro– fessional organization. He is an active member of the First Baptist ehurch of Union where he teaches Sunday School. A graduate of Newton High School, Humphreys attended East Central Junior College at Decatur and served in the Army National Guard. He is married to the former Sylvia Jones Florence. They have two children, Scott, 10, and Amy, nine.
