Phi Theta Kappa Initiates Six At East Central
the initiation. Local membership requirements state that a freshman must maintain a 3.4 grade point average and a sophomore must have a 3.3 grade point average on the 4.0 system. The purpose of the Phi Theta Kappa is to promote scholarship, to promote character, and to cultivate fellowship among the superior students. Serving as sponsors of the club are Mrs. Sara Heard and Mr. Rudolph Mayes. Members initiated include: Sherry Cater, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Cater of Gulfport; Anita Germany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Germany of Decatur; Mary Guin, daughter of Mr. Warren Guin of Lawrence; Carleen Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Jones of Walnut Grove; Todd Rogers, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert H. Rogers of Harperville; and ยท Shelia Whitten, daughter of Mrs. Jerusha Whitten of Newton.
Theta Xi, the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honorary scholastic fraternity at East Central Junior College recently held initiation for six new members. The iniation ceremony was held in the Gordon Room with members, sponsors and invited guests present.
