Cheryl Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray Young of Carthage, has been elected to serve as president of Phi Theta Kappa for the 1979-80 term at East Central. She is an honor graduate . from Leake Academy and was listed as a Who's Who in American High Schools . Cheryl also served as secretary and treasurer of the Student Body Association and senior class. Since Miss Young has been attending East Central Junior College she has been named to the Dean's List and maintains a 3.6 overall grade point average. She also participated in intramural football, basketball and softball. Other officers elected were : Stan Clark of Decatur, vice-president; Evelyn Pierce of Newton, secretary; Susan Mihalt'C of Union, treasurer; ~nd Sherry Winstead of Union, reporter. Phi Theta Kappa is the honor society at East Central Junior College and mem– bership requirements state that a freshman must have maintained a 3.3 grade point average the previous semester. Sponsors of the Phi Theta Kappa Society are Mrs. Sara Heard and Mr. Rudolph Mayes.
